Been watching the MI TV series (1966-73) and the drumming is excellent. I saw an episode today (1972) and the studio guy was laying some of the sweetest funk grooves down during the dramatic "open space" for the episode--you know, good guy is looking for bad guy in dark hallway and it's just drums & bass groovin' for about 45 seconds. If you've seen Dirty Harry, Lalo Schifrin did the music for that movie and the feel is very similar. Sounds like the same drummer.

Anyone know how I can find out who was on this show for the episodes, not just the theme? If this was Shelly Mann, he's my new hero!
Oh...they changed the theme during the later episodes to a much more funky drum groove. This guy was great and the sound so pure. I love the early 70's!

No pro tools or drum machines back then!

Yeah, man, a lot of those older TV shows had great music.

Not only that, but MI was just a darn good show period "back in the day"...& spawned the Tom Cruise hit-flick-remakes [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img] [img]cool.gif[/img]

I know they did the LP for MI...but did they do the episodes? That's what I'm after. I wish I could play a sample of what I'm talking about. I video tape the episodes, but can't get them to PC right now.

If it was Mann & Palmer, this is killer groove stuff--so tasty, open, free & alive. They not only make killer grooves during the episodes, but nail the punches in the scenes...they had to be recording while watching the show itself in post production to be so synchronized with the scenes. Makes me dig even more!

I know Emil Richards was on the list above and he came to LA in '67 I believe with Joe Porcaro. Those guys started gigging fast.
